In a world full of things that are taken far too pretentiously seriously, things upon which people often base their entire sense of self-worth, unaware that if that “serious thing” collapses, they collapse with it, I decided to dedicate more time to studying and cultivating a less self-important habit, one that has always belonged to us: play.
I’ve actually come up with 3–4 mobile game ideas that I’m currently investing time into, because playing is vital, I would say fundamental, essential. Once they are published, I’ll update this post with more details, but I truly feel I’m walking a path I’ve always admired. Unlike passive entertainment, which has always disgusted me (especially cinema), in this I find a vital force, a different kind of drive, active, precisely, no longer mere escapism, but inner work, propulsion, exploration, youthfulness, and curiosity.
For now, I’ll leave you with a few rough screenshots. For development I’m using HTML5 + Canvas or, alternatively, Babylon.js for 3D. Whenever things require more demanding performance, I take the opportunity to use the most famous one of all: Unity.
And by the way, this is not my first experience. In the past, I spent several months dedicated to learning how a proper, well-made game works. Here on this page you can find more: edoardocasella.it/projects
